Validation of low-cost models for minimal invasive surgery training of congenital diaphragmatic hernia and esophageal atresia

چکیده
BackgroundMinimal invasive surgery (MIS) is increasingly used for the correction of congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) and esophageal atresia (EA). It important to master these complex procedures, preferably preclinically, avoid complications. The aim this study was validate recently developed models train MIS procedures preclinically.MethodsTwo low cost, reproducible (one CDH one EA) were validated during several pediatric surgical conferences training sessions (January 2017–December 2018), in either LaparoscopyBoxx or EoSim simulator. Participants both completed a questionnaire regarding their opinion on realism (face validity) didactic value (content validity), rated five-point-Likert scale.ResultsOf all 60 participants enrolled, 44 evaluated EA model. All items as significantly better than neutral, with means ranging from 3.7 4.1 (p < 0.001). model by 48 participants. scored neutral (means 3.5–3.9, p 0.001), exception haptics simulated diaphragm (mean 3.3, = 0.054). Both considered potent tool 3.9).ConclusionThese readily available budget are valid experts target group participants.Type studyProspective study.Level evidenceLevel II.

Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and Esophageal Atresia: the Importance of Respiratory Follow-up in Congenital Thoracic Malformations
Thoracic congenital malformations may be associated with long-term pulmonary morbidity. Certainly, this is the case for Esophageal Atresia (EA) and Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). These conditions have variable degrees of impaired development of both the airways and the lung vasculature, with a postnatal impact on lung function and bronchial reactivity. Pulmonary complications themselves...

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia is known to be associated with esophageal atresia, which is a rare association. We report a rare occurrence of congenital diaphragmatic hernia and lower esophageal atresia.
متن کاملFetal surgery for severe congenital diaphragmatic hernia?
Some fetal abnormalities, such as abdominal wall defects, are amenable to postnatal surgical correction with good results1. In other conditions, however, the survival rate after postnatal surgery is relatively poor. In congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), for example, this is because intrathoracic herniation of the abdominal viscera compromises the development of the fetal lungs, this being e...
متن کاملCongenital Esophageal Stenosis Associated with Esophageal Atresia and Gasless Abdomen
SUMMARY A radiologically gasless abdomen in a neonate with EA is usually regarded as being pathognomonic of an absence of distal T.E.F. It has been estimated that up to 1.5% of patient with a distal fistula may have a radiologically gasless abdomens as a manifestation of a very small fistula plugged with mucus. In this case a contrast study via the gastrostomy demonstrated a fistula between th...
متن کاملCongenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and Diaphragmatic Eventration.
Congenital diaphragmatic hernia can be approached successfully using minimally invasive techniques. Although there are may be a suggestion of higher recurrence rates with thoracoscopic repair, this may be due to the learning curve. However, open repair is associated with additional morbidity, most notably an increased rate of small bowel obstruction. Appropriate patients who have congenital dia...
